Pekin Bantams
Over a 30 year period we have kept and bred many varieties of chickens, both full size and bantam. All of whom have had their own personalities and sometimes quirky behavior ( Our Silkies drove us to distraction with their unbreakable broodiness and their tendency to breed numerous cockerels)
Pekins are new to us and although they are not going to be great layers, their friendliness and the fact that they are easy to handle is a big bonus. We should have bought in point of lay around June but we were held up by various factors so these were late hatching's (we don't intend to have our own cockerel again which is what we usually do) and although they are now coming up to point of lay, the weather is changing and daylight hours reducing so it might be the case that they don't even lay until the spring.

Your chickens sound like me with their sometimes quicky behaviour.I think I would like them.

Hello, I have been looking to buy about 4 Pekins hens in various colours, but must include a buff. I have had Pekins over a number of years but had to give them away when I was moving residence. Now I am ready to get back into them again. Have you got any for sale ? Kind regards Linda
Sorry, but no... we aren't going to keep a cockerel anymore - which does seem strange to us. However there do seem to be many breeders of this variety - although I have to say that the prices seem to to be very high now. We also had to travel a long way to get ours. Hope you find some nearby - probably best to wait for the spring hatchings though.
