London - Riots,looting and arson

If it was Wartime then we know what the penalty would be...

Riots, looting and arson - not in some far off poverty stricken dictatorship - but in the U.K's capital city.

Where do I live - London! Woolwich is just a couple of miles away. Although it was given limited coverage on the news  HERE are some photos. Actually there were other, even closer incidents, but I can understand that only the worst are being given airtime. Probably that's just as well though as perhaps the publicity fuels the momentum of the events. I thought about whether I should even be posting this... but I expect by now the whole world has already seen the film footage's - these really are scary times.

Many of us locals believe Woolwich  received less publicity because it is where the 2012 Olympic shooting events will take place, as well as being next door to Greenwich where the equestrian events will be centred. Mustn't worry the tourists!

Timeline - BBC

Gangs - just how targeted will they be by the police? London is a mecca for them - The Krays had to spend the rest of their lives in prison - and, yes, I do know their history ( but also people who knew them well) and nothing will convince me that they warranted their extreme sentences. How are their modern day counterparts dealt with? - very few will actually even receive custodial sentences - whilst the 'do gooders' defend them with their talk of their 'deprivation and disenfranchisement'!

I have seen the photos and I agree, sometimes this type of publicity may actually "add fuel to the fire" - it's so sad that some people feel a need to behave this way - these really are scary times.
